Edward J. Kroger
About the Author

Edward J. Kroger, MD, JD, MBA

Physician, attorney, healthcare executive, and professor — nearly fifty years at the intersection of medicine, law, and business.

Edward John Kroger is a graduate of UT Southwestern Medical School, the University of Texas School of Law, and Rice University's Jones Graduate School of Business. A former board-certified internist, he spent more than thirty years as an attorney representing healthcare systems and providers, leading a Houston healthcare law firm for more than two decades and arguing the Texas Medical Peer Review Privilege before the Texas Supreme Court. He serves as Chief Legal Officer of a large nonprofit organization.

He is the founding director of the Master of Science in Healthcare Leadership program at the University of Houston's Bauer College of Business, where he is a Professor of Practice, and teaches graduate courses in healthcare business, law, and leadership at the University of Houston, Rice University, and the University of Miami. He is a teaching consultant to the American Medical Association and a legal consultant to Harris County, Texas, on healthcare legal matters.

The Business of Healthcare grew out of those classrooms: the course in healthcare business that clinicians and administrators never got in training, written down so that anyone stepping into leadership can have it.
